HEAT POLICY FOR MPDWG COMPETITIONS

Because of the distance some of our members must travel for MPDWG events, and in the light of the high temperatures we may have, to protect and care for our participants a clearly defined procedure will be followed.

We support the principles of the WGV Heat Policy, but believe that in some circumstances we should take action earlier than an hour before the commencement of play, as players may often travel for up to two hours to some events.

The strategy we will implement should it be necessary, for all MPDWG events, is as follows:

We will refer to the website www.weather.com.au/vic/ followed by the nearest location of the site to the course where the event is being conducted:  e.g. Rye, Rosebud, Berwick, Warburton.  (e.g. Beacon Plate 2010 – www.weather.com.au/vic/portsea)

PENNANT COMPETITIONS

Because a matchplay competition cannot be shortened to 9 holes,  our policy will be to CANCEL play if the forecast is for temperatures over 40 degrees, or if Catastrophic Fire Warnings are published.  When matches are cancelled, they will be re-scheduled if possible, or affected teams will be awarded half points.
