Delegates Meeting

Match Report

Events

This year the Beacon Plate and Veterans Championship have had reduced player numbers and the Foursomes to be played at Portsea on the 6 June has 32 pairs there is normally 48 pairs and a waiting list for this event. I am not sure of the reason maybe there are too many events early in the year or maybe we are too busy to play in other than our club events.

Congratulations to the winners of the Beacon Plate and the Veterans’ Championships.

Since 2008 the District Championships format has been two qualifying rounds for A Grade and one for B and C Grade followed by matchplay, quarter finals, semi finals and finals. The semi finals and finals have been held on one day which means players may have to play 36 plus holes of golf. Over the last two years a number of players have entered the qualifying round but have requested not to play in the matchplay other players have said that 36 holes in one day is too much others have difficulty in committing to four or three days of golf. For 2012 the committee has decided to change the District Championships to two 18 hole stroke rounds for all grades.

Syllabus

Thank you for your returns in regards to hosting District Events in 2012 we will send out confirmation to clubs in early June.

Golf Clinic

The committee has request a grant from Golf Victoria Bettine Burgess Foundation to assist with funding for a clinic to be held at the National Golf Club on Thursday 28 July 2011, as yet we have not heard back from Golf Victoria. Should we not receive funding the Clinic will still go a head in the same format as the 2010 clinics. Entry forms will be sent next week.

Pennant

Congratulations to all players and caddies. It was great that the results of Division One and Three was only known on the last day of pennant Division Two we knew prior to the Easter Break. I am sure that there will be some interesting discussion on the season and ideas for 2012, in the Pennant Meeting.

Handicap Matchplay

Handicap Matchplay started last week we started in May this year to try for better weather so we had rain last week hopefully this week it will be sunshine. All clubs who have entered a team have been given a Review Sheet please, complete as it is important that we know how you feel about this event. We have schedule handicap matchplay in 2012 to start in May possibly a week early than this year.
