MPDWG Annual General Meeting
Handicap Manager’s Report
26 October 2009
2009 has been a quiet year in some ways: using the AWCR remained in place and there was the news that Golf Australia was adopting the USGA Course Rating System and once all the courses in Australia have been rated the introduction of the USGA Handicapping System locally known as the Slope System.
They have changed the way we handicapped 4 BBB scorecards from stableford to stroke and back to stableford.
From 1st February 2010, the calculation of our handicaps will be by the USGA’s rolling sample best 10 cards out of 20 will be used to calculate a players' handicap; for those clubs who have Golflink this should happen automatically as from 1st February.. Then at a date to be advised for handicapping, all eligible scores will be converted and processed as stableford scores. GA will issue a instruction on how this process will work in 2010.
We had at the 30 June 2009, 1690 female players and 14 Junior’s in the District. This is an increase of 103 female players from 2008. The number of players in the handicap ranges were:
0-3 – 2
4-9 - 26
10-18 – 164
19-27 – 497
28-36 – 557
37-44 – 263
45 – 181
