POINT NEPEAN TROPHY
This is a two day event played at Sorrento and Portsea Golf Courses: thirty six holes of stroke for players with H/C of 0 to 18. This year we had a field of 44 players compared to 24 last year. As Portsea hosted this year, the first round, the A.S.Patterson Cup was played at Sorrento. There was a play off between Sue Wooster h/c 3 and Montana Struass h/c 4, with scores of 73 Gross. It was won by Sue Wooster. The Cheviot Plate, played at Portsea, was won by Lee Park h/c 1 with 67 Gross. The Pt Nepean Trophy is for the 36 holes and Sue Wooster and Lee Park finished with 144 Gross each. The Play off was won on the first hole by Lee Park. As well as gross R/U Sue Wooster was the Nett Winner 138 c/b from Bianca Ling. There were c/bs for A.S.Patterson Cup Nett Winner and Cheviot Plate Nett R/u.
To add to the excitement of the day Lee Park set a new course record for Portsea of 67, and had 2 eagles. Two other players had eagles. It was a very good tournament and we were delighted with the size ot the field.

THE NATIONAL GOLF CLUB
WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - A GRADE
Saturday 21st November 2009
Despite drizzly conditions, Biviana Gilson (pictured left) played an amazing first 9 holes on The Old Course at The National. She had five birdies on this very difficult course, and so set up a winning lead over her opponent Kerry Duddy. Play for the rest of the scheduled 36-hole final was fairly even, but Biviana's brilliant start was too much even for Kerry who is a reknowned "come from behind" competitor. Congratulations to both players for such excellent golf. Congratulations too to Fiona Law who won the B Grade championship, defeating Meredith Ramadan.

QUEENS OF THE RIP
September 17th 2009
A highlight at The Dunes is the bi-ennial visit from the13th Beach golfers. The team trophy for the best 20 scores from each club is traditionally won by the home side, and so The Dunes won this year. Next yearat 13th Beach will probably be different.
The individual trophy and the beautiful tiara were won this year by Nola Brooke-Ward (pictured top right) from 13th Beach with a fine score of 40 points. As the weather was appalling - rain all day - her score and that of the runner-up Rhonda Harrison from The Dunes (39 points) were excellent. Rhonda was the leading Dunes player, on a count-back from Mary Ann Elson, also on 39.
