THE F.Y.A. TROPHY
Women’s Golf Victoria in association with the Victorian Golf Association each year conducts a statewide golf event as part of a long-standing link with the Foundation for Young Australians. Two-thirds of the proceeds from this event will go back to benefit golf via the Victorian Golf Foundation. The remaining one-third goes to the Foundation for Young Australians which is an independent national grant-making organisation, funding and working in partnership with youth-led initiatives with a particular focus on young indigenous Australians. For information about this organisation see www.youngaustralians.org
Each Victorian club plays its own tournament in which a male and a female winner is determined. Each person entering in the club event is asked to pay $2.20. The winning pair is eligible to play in the District play-off (in the country) or the metropolitan play-off. District winners, and the top eleven placegetters in each of the two metropolitan finals, will qualify for the state final at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
The event was first played in 1978 called the Silver Jubilee Event. The name was changed to the Queen Elizabeth II Trophy in 1979.
